About

The National Genetically Engineered Mouse Models (GEMM) Unit was founded by the Israeli Council for Higher Education and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2019. Our unit goal is to support animal model research efforts, to advance genetic and reproductive technologies for model generation and preservation, and to serve as a resource for design, development customized mouse lines.

Creation of genetically engineered mouse strains via CRISPR/Cas. Knockouts, knockins, point mutations, conditional (floxed) alleles.

Rederivation of mouse lines

To generate pathogen free mouse lines, embryo is isolated from donor female and transferred to a clean recipient pseudo-pregnant female.

DNA transgenes - Microinjection

Pronuclear microinjection of transgene constructs to create transgenic mouse lines.
