כלוב שאינו מסומן כראוי או אינו נמצא במצב תקין לא ניתן לשלוח להמתה ע"י צוות בית החיות. על מנת שצוות בית החיות יוציא כלוב להמתה יש לפעול בצור הבאה:

 

• יש למלא את כל הפרטים על פתק הכלוב, כולל תאריך לידה, זוויג, מספר חיות בכלוב ואם מדובר בכלוב סטוק או ניסוי.
• יש למלא את כל הפרטים על פתק ההמתה בכתב ברור, כולל שם האדם שמבקש את ההמתה, תאריך והאם החיות עברו ניסוי או לא (על מנת שנוכל לתרום אותן לגן החיות לאחר המתתן).
• את פתק ההמתה, שהינו מדבקה, יש להדביק פיזית על גב פתקת הכלוב. אין להניח אותו על מחזיק הפתקאות, חובה להדביק!
• את פתקת הכלוב מחזירים למקומה הפוכה – כך שמדבקת ההמתה פונה כלפי חוץ כך שמטפלי החיות יוכלו לראות אותה.
• יש לוודא השארת מספיק מים ומזון ל 3 ימים לפחות.
• יש לסגור את פתק הכלוב במערכת הברקודים ולסמנו במדבקה הכחולה המתאימה.
ישנם שלושה מקרים שבהם אסור לסמן חיות להמתה, אלא על החוקר לבצע את ההמתה בעצמו מיידית:
1. חיות פצועות או חולות או שהגיעו לנקודת ההוצאה מהניסוי.
2. גורים יונקים ללא אמא שלהם.

3. כלוב במצב של צפיפות יתר.

 

A cage that is not marked correctly or is in an improper condition may not be sent for euthanasia by the animal facility staff. For the animal facility staff to remove the cage for euthanasia you must act in the following manner:

 

• Fill out all the details of the cage card, including date of birth, sex, number of animals in the cage, and if it is an experiment or stock cage. 

• Fill out all the details required on the euthanasia card, including the name of the student who requests the euthanasia, the date and - has the animal been exposed to any material (so we can donate them to the zoo after euthanasia).

• The euthanasia card is a sticker which must be glued physically to the back of the cage card. Do not place it on the cage card holder, you must stick it on.

• Return the cage card with the “euthanasia” card facing outwards so that our workers can see it.

• Be sure to leave enough food and water for at least 3 days.

• Close the cage card in the barcode system (blue sticker).

There are 3 cases in which you may not mark animals for euthanasia but must euthanize them yourself:

1. Injured or sick animals or animals that have reached their end point.

2. Nursing pups without their mother.

3. The cage is in a state of severe overcrowding.
